The new look 370m² admin block created a great new, fit-for-purpose home for the zoo staff. Extensive glazing, sharply pitched gables down the long east side and a large airy mezzanine suspended from the ceiling by steel rods make the place light and bright. Modest, commercial architecture, achieved on a tight budget. Considerations such as tie-ins to the existing building and infrastructure, as well as working on a contaminated site, needed to be worked in to our solutions.

This project was the winner of the 2019 NZIA Auckland Commercial Architecture Award.
